Certhon shares vision on the future of propagation at Propagate! Share this post facebook twitter whatsapp linkedin During Propagate!, the international knowledge and networking event for propagators, Julia Erftemeijer shared Certhon’s vision on the future of propagation. With this year’s theme, Labour in Propagation, the event focused on a challenge faced by growers worldwide: how to produce more uniform and predictable young plants while reducing labour requirements and operational costs. In her presentation, Erftemeijer explained why the biggest gains in propagation are achieved not by optimizing individual processes, but by redesigning the entire growing system. By integrating climate control, irrigation, energy, lighting, automation and logistics into one connected environment, growers gain greater control over the cultivation process while improving efficiency and consistency. As an example, she highlighted the collaboration between Certhon and Anthura, in which a daylight-free propagation system for Phalaenopsis was developed. By combining a fully controlled propagation environment with a conventional greenhouse, the system creates a more stable growing climate, resulting in higher uniformity and rooting success rates of up to 99%. “The question is no longer how we can improve a single process, but how we can design the complete growing environment more intelligently. When all systems work together, we create greater predictability, higher quality and a more efficient operation,” said Erftemeijer. “The biggest innovations happen when growers, breeders and technology partners combine their expertise. Only together can we take the next step in propagation.” With her contribution, Julia Erftemeijer reinforced Certhon’s mission to rethink the way the world grows. By combining technology, data and cultivation expertise, Certhon develops integrated growing environments that help growers achieve greater control, predictability and performance, wherever and whatever they grow.
