Finalizing energy storage tanks for Opti-flor Share this post facebook twitter whatsapp linkedin Monster – A significant milestone is being reached in the construction project Certhon is currently realizing for Opti-flor. The final touches are being applied to two impressive energy storage tanks, each 12 meters tall. Not only are they an eye-catching feature at the site, but they also play a vital role in efficient energy management. By storing heat and cold efficiently, these tanks ensure energy is available precisely when and where it is needed. Tank 1: Tailored heat storage The first tank, with a capacity of 4 million liters, is designed to store heat at varying temperature levels, ensuring energy is available on demand: • Winter: The tank stores high-temperature heat of up to 93°C, ideal for heating the greenhouse during the coldest months. • Summer: The tank can be filled in layers, with high-temperature heat (up to 85°C) stored at the top and lower-temperature heat in the middle. This layered storage allows for flexible energy use tailored to specific needs. Tank 2: A buffer for both heat and cold The second tank, with a capacity of 5 million liters, is a true all-rounder, providing storage for both heat and cold: • Winter: The tank serves as a buffer for low-temperature heat, suitable for processes requiring less heat intensity. • Summer: The tank stores cold water, which feeds the systems that maintain an optimal climate in the cooling and finishing departments. Cooling is not required in the propagation phase. A system that adapts to the seasons What makes these storage tanks unique is their flexibility and focus on minimizing energy waste. By storing energy for later use, they ensure continuity in greenhouse climate management while supporting a sustainable approach to energy use. Future-proof solutions For growers, the need for energy-efficient solutions is more relevant than ever. The project at Opti-flor demonstrates how innovative systems not only maintain a stable climate but also provide adaptability to shifts in energy demand or seasonal changes. This level of customization sets a new standard for the industry. Certhon is proud of this progress and looks forward to completing the project. Stay tuned to our channels for further updates!
