First Pile Marks Start of Axia Demonstration Nursery

With the driving of the first pile, construction of a new demonstration nursery for Axia Vegetable Seeds has officially begun. The new facility is being developed as a showcase where customers, growers, and partners can view and evaluate Axia’s various tomato varieties under real-world conditions.

The project includes over 6,300 m² of greenhouse space, an industrial building of 700 m², and a water basin with a capacity of approximately 5,000 m³. The greenhouse will be specifically designed to display crops as fully matured produce, giving visitors a realistic picture of the characteristics and performance of the various varieties.

Complete Project Implementation
Certhon is implementing the project on a fully turnkey basis and is responsible for both the greenhouse structure and the heating, irrigation, and electrical systems. By connecting the new location to Axia’s existing infrastructure, a single integrated environment is created that efficiently aligns with daily operations.

Foundation work began immediately after the first pile was driven. The coming period will focus on further developing the project’s infrastructure. The next major milestone will follow in early August with the start of steel structure assembly, at which point the contours of the new facility will become visible.

Designed for an efficient growing environment
The growing area features a liftable growing system that allows growing troughs and tube rails to be raised to a height of up to three meters during crop changes. This creates optimal space for cleaning and maintenance and contributes to efficient operations.

In addition, two sections are equipped with the latest generation of LED lighting. This allows growing conditions to be precisely adjusted and ensures that the crops remain optimally visible to visitors year-round. The new demonstration nursery will soon be more than just a presentation venue; it will be a place where innovation and practice converge and where the power of modern tomato breeding is brought to life.
