Opti-Flor’s new construction is on schedule for June completion Share this post facebook twitter whatsapp linkedin The construction of the 3.3-hectare greenhouse of Opti-Flor in Monster is still on schedule. The innovative greenhouse will be completed in June, after which commissioning will begin immediately. The major move of the first Phalaenopsis plants is planned for week 33. With this new construction, Opti-Flor takes a significant step toward more efficient and sustainable cultivation. The greenhouse is packed with technological innovations and smart installations. The building envelope is completely sealed, and the energy center is mainly mechanically equipped. After the completion of welding work in two weeks, the electrical connection will follow, along with the installation of the cooling system. The second excavation phase for the shallow piping has been successfully completed, and all concrete floors in the sheds have been poured. The installation of the ErfGoed floor has been underway for five weeks and is progressing steadily, followed by cooling preparations. WPS has also started assembling the buffer system. The greenhouse is equipped with advanced heating and cooling systems. In the warm cultivation department, 36 AVS units ensure efficient air handling and dehumidification. In the cooler sections, Certhon’s JSK units play an important role in temperature and moisture regulation under the cultivation tables. To optimize energy needs, a linked hot and cold storage tank has been installed. The greenhouse will initially be heated with a CHP installation and will be connected to the geothermal network in the Westland area from 2027 onward. The screening installations are also innovative. The highly diffusing greenhouse roof features an advanced external screen for temperature control and easy maintenance. Under the roof, three movable screens ensure energy savings, light regulation, and blackout capability. All involved parties are working hard to meet the tight schedule and complete the final installations. Thanks to close collaboration, the completion is within reach, preparing Opti-Flor for a new phase in sustainable Phalaenopsis cultivation.
